WILLIAM A. MAHEU
COMMISSIONER II
SERVING SINCE 2007
Despite routinely tight budgets, Commissioner Maheu found ways to replace the aging helicopter fleet, buy state of the art police cars and motorcycles as well as transition the police department towards a more high tech way of crime fighting.

Commissioner Mahaeu also orchestrated the police department’s donation of two police cars and two motorcycles to the historical association.

Commissioner Maheu retired from the San Diego Police Department in 2007 to join Qualcomm Incorporated where he serves as the senior director of strategic development.

A graduate of the University of San Diego, Commissioner William A. "Bill" Maheu joined the San Diego Police Department in 1980.

During his career he worked patrol, SWAT, investigations and administration.

In 2003 he was appointed as the Executive Assistant Chief where he was responsible for the day to day operations of the police department. It was there he proved to be a popular and exceptionally resourceful administrator.
