Assistant Chief of Police Chuck Kaye is a 26-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department.  Chuck was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in December 2016.  He oversees Neighborhood Policing which includes Operational Support, the Homeless Outreach Team, Canine, SWAT, Communications, and Information Services
Chuck has served as the Commanding Officer for Investigations I, Southern Division, and Central Division.  As a lieutenant, his responsibilities included Mid City Patrol, Vice Administration, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, the 290 Unit, the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the Narcotics Task Force.  His sergeant assignments included Patrol, Operational Support, EEO, Financial Crimes, the Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team (CATCH), and Sex Crimes. 

Chuck earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication from San Diego State University in 1985 and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from National University in 2004.  Chuck is currently an instructor at the San Diego Regional Training Center and the Regional Police Academy.

Chuck is a native San Diegan and currently lives in the North County with his wife, Lisa.
