Roy Francis “Frank” Barone passed away at home on April 23, 2022.  Frank was born in San Diego on May 15, 1937 and was a life-long resident of the area.  He graduated from Kearny High School, Grossmont College, and San Diego State University.

He served in the U.S. Army, followed by a distinguished 30-year career in law enforcement with the San Diego Police Department.  His career with the SDPD started as a Field Patrol officer, followed by Burglary Detective.  After becoming Sergeant, he became a Field Patrol supervisor and S.W.A.T. supervisor, as well as a supervisor in the Special Investigations Unit.  His last decade prior to retirement in 1993 was as a supervisor in the Metro Arson Strike Team.

Frank was also a decades-long member and past President of the North Park Lions Club.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anita, whom he met in Mission Beach in 1960.  He’s also survived by his 3 children, Damon, Paige, and Daren; his grandchildren, Tyler, Kendall, Pierce, and Hayden; and his sister, Sally.

A memorial service will be held May 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Miramar National Cemetery.
