OCEANSIDE — Gordon Lau died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his home of cancer.

Born Dec. 19, 1943, in Hong Kong, he lived in Oceanside for 30 years.  He retired in July 2004, after 16 years on the San Diego Police Department.  He retired after 20 years as a master gunnery sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Lau was preceded in death by his mother, Lau Chan-Wai Yue.  He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kim Lau of Oceanside; son Richard Nguyen of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Gary Johnson and Sabrina Lau Johnson of Las Vegas; and sister Pauline Lau of Huntsville, Ala.
