Gordon Thayer Penwarden, 80, of Encinitas died Thursday. 

He was born in San Diego and was a salesman for Service Pipe & Supply. 

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his sons, Scott of Carlsbad and Todd of Encinitas; sisters, Ruth Stevens of Studio City and Margaret Hutchinson of Olivenhain; a and brother, Roy Penwarden of Mission Beach.
