Spokane, Washington - John Edward Mansfield passed away on August 15, 2022 in Spokane, Washington surrounded by family. He was 86. John was born in Oakland, California on February 12, 1936 and lived most of his life in California until moving to Lacey, Washington in May of 1980, he later moved to Spokane, Washington in 2020 to reside with family.

After high school he served in the Army then joined the San Diego Police Department where he moved up the ranks to Lieutenant, after 22 years with the SDPD he accepted the position of Police Chief in Lacey, Washington in May of 1980 and remained at that position for 22 years until his retirement in June of 2002.

John was married to Barbara (Dye) Mansfield for 58 years until her passing in 2019. Together they traveled the world after retirement with friends and enjoyed spending time with family.

John is survived by his son Juan Pacheco (Leonila) of San Diego, and daughters Terrill Anderson (Gary) of Spokane, and Shana Mansfield (Troy Nieuwsma) of Kittredge, CO. As well as numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, son Lance Mansfield, granddaughters Barbie Pacheco and Rachel Karbatsch.
