James A. Galasso, a former San Diego police officer and a one-time member of the Coronado Planning Commission, died Tuesday on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay.  Mr. Galasso, who collapsed while jogging around the island, was 46.

A native of San Diego, Mr. Galasso lived in Mission Hills and operated a card shop in Coronado.  In addition to his service on that city's Planning Commission, he was known locally as a legal researcher.

Survivors include his wife, Patty; two sons, Tony and Gene; his mother, Margaret Galasso; and a sister, Judy Lobb, all of San Diego.
