WREN, JOANNE M. JoAnne M. Wren, 77, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Kaiser Zion Hospital, San Diego, CA . She was a resident of San Diego since 1970.

JoAnne was born in Puyallup, Washington, on February 18, 1932, the only child of the late R. Cecil Ragon and Gladys M. (Lister) Ragon.  JoAnne was a graduate of Franklin High School, Seattle, WA.

She joined the U.S. Marines in December 1950 and served during the Korean War.  After her service in the Marines, she met her husband Frank, who was in the Navy.  She attended Texas A&I in Kingsville, TX, and continued her education to earn an associate degree from Mesa College, San Diego.

JoAnne was an avid swimmer.  She received the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification to teach swimmers, which she did for several seasons and taught both her sons and a grandson how to swim.

JoAnne's passionate hobbies were fashion, shopping/bargain hunting, matchmaking, and gathering friends together.  No event was too small for a party!

She loved going out to dinner.  She also loved to read, often swapping books with friends and co-workers.  JoAnne was known for spending hours on the phone . She enjoyed reconnecting with people they had known through their military career and travels.

She was employed by the Navy, Army and Air Force at different times and different locations around the globe.  JoAnne went to work for the City of San Diego as a Police Dispatcher where she worked for 12 years until transferring to the City Code Enforcement Division where she retired her City employment after 23 years.

Together, JoAnne and Frank lived in nine different locations including Japan and Okinawa.  After retirement, JoAnne and her husband travelled extensively visiting 26 countries and all 50 states.  They were married 55 years.

JoAnne is survived by her husband, Frank; their two children and their wives, Douglas and Julia, and Lance and Karl; four grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Travis and Katie. Cody is serving with the Navy in Afghanistan. No services were  per JoAnne's request.
