Lt. John Philip Dobson, S.F.D.A.I, 65, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 in Stanford U. Medical Center.

Devoted husband of Sherron Dobson; loving father of Rachelle Enderle, Nick Dobson, Steven Simmons and Matthew Dobson; grandfather of Thomas Dobson, Jason Toler, Christopher and Heather Enderle, Sierra and Anna Marie Simmons, Bailey and Ethan Dobson; great-grandfather of Anthony Enderle; son of the late John Joseph and Marguerite Dobson; brother of Marguerite Woltz of Desert Hot Springs, CA and Forrest Custer of Madisonville, LA.

Lt. Dobson previously served on the San Diego police force for many years.

He currently worked as a lieutenant in the San Francisco DAI's office in the Welfare and Fraud Unit Special Investigations and Bad Check Program.

He was the vice president on the executive board of the DAI Association and also Lodge 15 trustee.

He was the CA State FOP chaplain and was their advisor for the California Peace Officers Memorial which honors officers who died in the line of duty.

He served on the California and the National Easter Seals Committee representing the FOP.

Services were held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Friday, August 11, 2006, 1:00 p.m. with Captain Eric Tibbets officiating.

Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.

Pallbearers were sons, Steven Simmons and Matthew Dobson; brothers-in-law, Leslie White, Jim Findley and Jim Pearcey; and nephew, Darren Vittitow. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Vittitow, nephew, and Richard Vittitow, great-nephew.
