On July 15, 2004, Police 911 Dispatcher Laura Manasan joined SDPD, beginning a remarkable career dedicated to public safety. 

During her nearly 22 years of service, Laura made a lasting impact on our Dispatch Division and the San Diego community.

As a Dispatcher, Laura was the calm voice on the other end of the line for those calling on some of their hardest days, undoubtedly saving the lives of people in crisis.
Laura's commitment to excellence was recognized throughout her career. She was awarded three Supervisor's Commendations, a Commanding Officer's Citation, and was honored with the Employee of the Shift award.

Laura was always ready to help her coworkers navigate the emotional toll of emergency services. She served as a Phone Advisory Board member, on the Recruiting Team, the Activities Committee, the Mentoring Team, the Peer Support Team, and in the Member Assistance Program. 

As a trainer, she shared her decades of experience to help prepare newly hired dispatchers as they were beginning their careers.

Outside of work, she loved gardening and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Even while facing her own personal health battles, she remained a positive example of strength, humility, and grace, never wanting others to worry and always focusing her energy on encouraging those around her.

Laura leaves behind her husband, six children, three grandchildren, a sister, three brothers, and many other loved ones and friends.

Laura was truly one of a kind. She was a selfless person who always looked out for the well-being of others. SDPD Dispatch will honor her memory by continuing to serve with the compassion she showed every day.
