SVIDAL -- Lyder E. "Swede" of Santee, CA passed away peacefully at Scripps Green Hospital on Jan. 30, 1999.

A longtime San Diego resident, he was born in Starkweather, North Dakota on Sept. 16, 1922.

He served in the Army airforce during WW II and became a member of the San Diego Police Dept. in 1950.

He retired from the department as a Detective Sergeant in 1978.

During his distinguished career, he received many accommodations for his diligent service to the people of San Diego.

Lyder is survived by his wife, Patricia (Eloise) Svidal, his 2 sons, Alan of El Cajon, CA and Jay of Orange, CA and his 4 grandchildren, Jeff, Emily, Colin and Erik.

He will be greatly missed by his many friends and loving family.
