THE THIN BLUE LINE
The youngest of two sons, Michael David Blaylock was born on March 15, 1945 in San Diego to David and Betty Blaylock. Michael was known to many as “Doc” because of his initials M.D.

Doc graduated from Mount Miguel High School in 1963 and after a brief stint in college, he started his career as a police officer with the Manhattan Beach Police Department. He then worked for a short time as a police officer in Utah before returning home to San Diego. He joined the San Diego Police Department on September 10, 1979.

He worked a number of assignments with SDPD but was most proud of his time with the  Border Task Force and as a Detective with the Gangs Unit. Doc retired from SDPD on March 12, 2001.

After retiring from SDPD, Doc pursued a career in prestidigitation and became a self-titled “Purveyor of Mystical Wonderments.” He would perform magic professionally at The Gathering in San Diego and was a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood.

It was during that time that he started his own private investigation business. He continued to work as a private investigator until he passed away on April 8, 2022.

Doc was an avid horse rider and a member of The Hole in the Wall Gang. He enjoyed going on long horse rides with his beloved horse Molly.

Michael is survived by his son who resides in San Diego with his wife and their two daughters.
