On December 5, 2022, Patrick Joseph Shanley passed away in Maryville, TN after a long battle with allergic asthma and complications due to a fall onto his back. Patrick was 76 years old.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret and his daughter, Brenna and several nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, William Leonard Shanley, Patricia Charlotte (Lolmaugh) Shanley and his brothers Michael Allen Shanley, James Francis Shanley, Timothy David Shanley, William Bernard Shanley.

Patrick was born in Madison, Wisconsin on Nov 6, 1946, and lived in Germany for many years as a child with his family, as his dad was in the Army stationed overseas. Patrick moved to San Diego, CA after and lived there most his life, graduated from Hoover High School, San Diego and National University in San Diego.

He served his country during Vietnam as a SGT in the US Army. He joined the San Diego Police Department in 1981 and retired in 2007. He worked as a detective in narcotics and was a long time Task Force Officer at the San Diego Integrated Narcotics Task Force. Patrick moved to Maryville, TN in 2019 with his wife and family.

Patrick and Mary were married close to 30 years and were friends from work long before getting married. They shared a love of family and friends, love of work, summers fishing in Alaska and having a freezer full of salmon, trips to Las Vegas and playing poker. Patrick loved driving through the Great Smokey's National Park as it reminded him of Alaska.
