EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE
PAUL J. CONNELLY
SERVING SINCE 1997
Executive Assistant Chief Connelly was hired on January 6, 1997.

He has worked a wide variety of assignments including patrol operations at Eastern, Central, Northeastern, and Western Divisions. He also served as a pilot with the Air Support Unit.

Chief Connelly was a Lieutenant in the Special Events Unit and served as a Watch Commander/Field Lieutenant. He went on to command both Western and Central Divisions as a Captain.

Chief Connelly was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2018 where he stood up the Neighborhood Policing Division. He was then placed in charge of all Centralized Investigative Units.

Prior to joining the SDPD, Chief Connelly earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris University and served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Executive Assistant Chief Connelly is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department and looks forward to continuing to improve the department for all personnel.
