Raymond Dobbs left the San Diego Police Department in lieu of termination. 

Years later he died in the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation while serving a sixteen year sentence. The incarceration was a result of a March 18, 2024, guilty plea to five counts of lewd and lascivious acts with children under the age of 12.
