Richard Leonard Eckert, 76, of San Diego died March 4.

He was born in Detroit served the San Diego Police Department for 10 years then went on to become a retired U.S. Customs Service agent.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Eckert; daughters, Pamela Sokol of Lemon Grove and Sue Smith of Lakeside; son, Larry Eckert of San Diego; brother, Roger Eckert of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

Interment: La Salina Del Mar, Rosarito, Mexico.
