Benton Richard Coulter Jr. (Rick) went to Heaven on August 9, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 78 years old.

Rick was born in Coatesville, PA on December 08, 1944.

He graduated from S. Horace Scott Senior High School in Coatesville in 1964.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1969 and was sent to Camp Pendleton, CA. That is when he met Karen, the love of his life. They were married 50 years and had 2 children together.

He joined the San Diego Police Department in 1974 and retired in 2003, as a Detective.
While working full time, he earned his BA Degree at National University in San Diego.

Rick loved his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Benton & Kathryn Coulter and his sister, JoAnn Walton. He leaves behind his brother, Robert Coulter, his wife Karen and his daughters Amy Coulter, Kari Coulter & Jill Reichert.

He loved being a Marine and police officer. He also loved hiking Mission Trails, flying with Golden State Flying Club at Gillespie Field, dancing & traveling. He was active at Shadow Mountain Community Church for many years and one of his fondest memories was getting baptized in the Jordan River in Israel.

Rick’s Celebration of Life will be held at Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, CA. Date: TBD
