Services for Robert L. "Augie" Augustine, 58, of Chula Vista, a retired senior lieutenant with the San Diego Police Department, will be at noon tomorrow in Glen Abbey Mortuary. Private inurnment was planned. He died Monday in a hospital.

Mr. Augustine, a native of Burbank, lived in the county 55 years. He joined the department in 1951 and worked in the patrol, narcotics, vice and public-affairs sections before retiring on disability in 1983.

He was president of the San Diego Police Officers Association in 1969-70 and received numerous citations from the city for his work in labor negotiations between the police and the city. He served two years in the Army, from 1946 to 1948.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Leslie Mais of Orange and Kimberly Humphrey of Chula Vista; and two grandsons. The family suggested donations to the American Heart Association.
