Born June 9, 1925, in Wisconsin, he lived in Hemet. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in both Guam and Saipan.

He was employed by the San Diego Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, and was the owner/operator of Santa Margarita Escrow in Fallbrook and Temecula.
