Dr. Robert Duncan Mervynne, 76, former head of the ear, nose and throat section at the Veterans Administration clinic here, has died in an El Cajon Hospital.

Dr. Mervynne, who received his medical training at the University of Toronto, had lived in the San Diego area since 1950. He had been retired for seven years.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and as a retired Navy lieutenant commander was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He also was a member of the San Diego Police Reserve.

He is survived by his wife Olga and by three sons, William R. Jackson of San Diego, Russell Dail Jackson of El Cajon, and Henry D. Mervynne of Van Nuys.
