THE THIN BLUE LINE
On July 6, 2025 Ruby Bock passed away peacefully in her sleep at her San Diego home after four years of battling cancer. Born to Viola Bock of Zambales, Philippines in 1978 and adopted by John Bock in 1987. Ruby was “Ate” to her sister Alana and brother, Patrick.

Some people leave a mark on the world. Ruby left her mark on hearts. She was strong, quick-witted, and full of life. She loved to laugh and made others laugh too—

it was one of her gifts. Whether she was working on a car, skateboarding with confidence, camping under the stars, or spending time near the ocean, Ruby lived with energy and heart.

She served proudly with the San Diego Police Department. She was a loving partner to Sonnia, a devoted mother to Elliot and Elijah, and an incredible friend to so many.

Even in the most difficult moments, she kept going— because, as she often said,
her children were her reason to keep fighting.

Ruby was kind. She was generous. She made people feel welcome, and she left people better than she found them. She connected with people easily, bringing comfort, laughter, and light wherever she went.

We carry her with us in stories, in laughter, and in the way we show up for others. Her life was a gift.

Her memory is a light. Forever loved. Deeply missed.
