Retired Police Officer Thomas Staley passed away on January 27, 2011.  He was hired on May 7, 1981, and retired on October 8, 2005. 

Prior to joing the San Diego Police Department, Officer Staley served as Chief of Police of the New Berlin (Illinois) Police Department

He was survived by his wife, Mary, daughter, Erin, son, Jason and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, February 4, 2011, 1600 hours, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, 1315 South Santa Fe Ave., Vista CA 92083.
