 HARPER -- Walter and Carrlene (husband and wife), longtime residents of Pacific Beach, died August 31, 1993. Walter, 65, a San Diego native, ran the family-owned QRS sign company with his father Herb Harper, and later retired from his work as an electrician. 

He was an active member of OMBAC, and traveled extensively with his wife. Carrlene, 61, a graduate of UCSB and a local artist, hailed from Yuma, Arizona, and recently retired from an administrative position at UCSD Medical School. Both were active in the community and well loved by their many friends and family. 

They are survived by their son Grant, his wife Esther and their children Analisa, Erica and Jesse; their daughter Lisa and her husband David Henderson; and Carrlene's sister Nancy Thomas.
