On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, our amazing father William Edwin Howell passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 69.

Bill was a third-generation San Diegan, born on February 16, 1949. He was a dedicated SDPD officer for 30 years, rising from working a beat to Lieutenant and Watch Commander. He was the youngest Detective Sergeant and youngest Lieutenant in SDPD history. One of his most memorable accomplishments while at SDPD was the founding and development of ABLE, SDPD helicopter air support.

He raised two daughters, Christine Mauer of Cedar Park, TX, and Stephanie Wagner of Glenwood Springs, CO.

Bill was an avid pilot, lover of his Padres, and all things patriotic. He was an amazing father, big brother, uncle, Papa to his grandsons, and a loyal friend. He loved a good "breakfast for dinner," Hawaiian music, all things Padres baseball and anything sweet.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Arthur Howell and his mother, Mary
Isabel Howell. He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Bill) and Stephanie (Scott), 5 grandsons, two younger brothers, Carl (Debbie) and Jim, 5 nieces and nephews, and 6 grandnieces and -nephews.
