William Francis Rice Jr., age 86, of Ramona, California, passed away on June 12, 2026. Bill was born June 2, 1940 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to William Francis Rice and Minnie Elizabeth Althof Rice.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his beloved wife, Jill; daughters, Kimberly Rice, Bonnie Sears (Jack), Terri Mayhew (Bryan) and their mother Carol Rose, and grandchildren, Ian Rice and Delanie Sears. Also survived by his step-sons, Kyle Meyer (Nicole), Scott Meyer (Makayla) and grandchildren Tanner, Zoey, Emma, Easton, and Everett. Bill was predeceased in death by his parents and three siblings, Gary, Peter and Michelle.
Bill moved with his family from Pennsylvania to California in the 1950s, where he spent the rest of his life. Bill dedicated a major portion of his life to protecting and serving his community with the San Diego Police Department, where he served with honor and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Bill was also a skilled Tax Consultant, a meticulous clockmaker, a talented cabinetmaker and a dedicated rancher. Outside of his professional life, Bill gave back to his community by coaching football and softball. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and camping with friends and family. While he had many hobbies, raising horses was his true passion and brought him immense joy throughout his life.
