Winton Hale Shirley, 87, of San Marcos died Sept. 28. He was born in Holly, Colo., and was a California Highway Patrol officer. He served in the Army Air Forces.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Shirley; and daughter, Cate of Idyllwild.
