ASSISTANT CHIEF DANIEL L. GRUBBS
SERVING SINCE 1990
Assistant Chief Grubbs is a native San Diegan who grew up in Clairemont.
Chief Grubbs oversees Patrol, Investigations, the Crime Lab, Traffic, Neighborhood Policing, Community and Youth Services and Special Operations.
Prior to his appointment to assistant chief, Chief Grubbs was the Commander of Investigations and the Crime Lab.
He has worked five Patrol Divisions throughout the city as well as Operational Support, Special Services; overseeing Air Support, Canine and SWAT. He was a SWAT Team member for 24 years, worked Gangs, Homicide Investigations, and was a Team Leader on the Emergency Negotiations Team.
As an Officer he was a Field Training Officer and SWAT Team member on the Primary Response Team, Sniper Team and Special Response Team.
Chief Grubbs is a graduate of FBI National Academy Class 290.
Chief Grubbs enjoys spending time with his family, off roading, camping, Thai boxing and jiujitsu.
