Ronald Freeman Kraft, 72, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Barrows Neurological Hospital in Phoenix, with his family surrounding him.

He was born September 24, 1932 in Compton, Calif, and graduated from high school in San Diego.

He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne division during the Korean War. After his service in the Army, he worked for the San Diego Police Department then the San Diego County Sheriff's Office for 21 years. After retiring in 1978, he went to work for Southern California Edison and retired from there in 1992. 

Mr. Kraft and his family moved to Flagstaff in 1992 and he worked for the Coconino County Health Department with animal control division until 2001. In 2003, he moved to Camp Verde. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, his grandchildren and family get-togethers.

Survivors include his wife, Rachelle Kraft of Camp Verde; sons, Mark, Ken and Eric; daughters Valerie Kraft and Yvette McFelia; brother Ralph Kraft; and eight grandchildren.
